Setting our sights on May
September 17, 2021
Like many other seniors, I too am looking forward to graduation. It may seem like it’s ages away, but for me it’s the only thing that’s keeping me going.
I have talked to some of my senior friends and they too are very excited to walk the stage. Although many of them are sad about leaving the school they’ve been at for four years
Others are very excited about leaving it all behind- like me. I can imagine what it will be like next year walking down the stage and shaking hands with all those important people, all I can hope for is a normal graduation with all people being there healthy and at least semi-happy.
“I am nervous about after high school because after this I’ll be on my own and that’s scary. I’m excited to walk the stage because then everything would be surreal,” said Courtney Reeves, 12.
“I’ll be relieved to say that I was finally able to graduate. I am scared about it because of the added pressure of becoming an adult and not knowing what I’ll be doing after I graduate,” said Aurora Hudson, 12.
For the first time in three years, we will have a regular graduation ceremony at Texas State’s Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos. On Tuesday, May 31 at 2:00 pm 2022 Hays seniors will get their send-off.
And although the number of Hays seniors is smaller than most years (due to the opening of Johnson HS), I hope this will be a memorable experience for all of us.
