A Look at Splatoon 3

On September 9th, Splatoon fans rejoiced as the third game in the franchise was finally released after months of anticipation. Ever since the Splatoon 3 direct where new idols and more were revealed, the Splatoon fandom has been hyped, and I think all the hype was totally deserved. When I first got my copy of the game, I spent a good portion of my weekend playing it because it’s so fun. If you’re a Splatoon fan, or just interested, you should go check it out. Trust me, you’ll have a good time with it.

Although some fans feared that Splatoon 3 would be too similar to Splatoon 2, there are many new features to discover. The special weapons, save for a few, have been changed completely, with some now resembling the special weapons from the first game. In my opinion, they are much more fun than those in Splatoon 2. Despite many main and sub weapons coming from previous games, they still feel fresh thanks to the new special weapons. Nintendo also decided to shake up splatfests. If you haven’t heard, now that we have three teams to choose from, near the end of a splatfest, there will be special tri color turf wars where the winning team tries to defend while two players from each of the other teams attack them. With all the new features introduced in Splatoon 3, you definitely won’t be getting bored anytime soon.

Now for the singleplayer mode – and don’t worry, I won’t be spoiling any of the story. I was expecting it to be a lot like the first two games’ hero modes, but I am so glad I was wrong. Clearly the Splatoon devs learned from the Octo Expansion because Splatoon 3’s hero mode feels similar to the levels seen there, but don’t get me wrong, it’s still fresh, introducing new mechanics, a completely new setting, and integrating new special weapons into the game. You will also be happy to know that the story is completely new, unlike anything we’ve seen in hero mode before. Once I started, I was eager to continue playing hero mode just to see how the story would progress.

Overall, Splatoon 3 is a super fun game, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested. Even if you’ve never played a Splatoon game, now would be a great time to join in on the fun. As for those of you who are already Splatoon fans, I don’t think I have to tell you to play Splatoon 3.
