The Greatest Showman: relatable & beautiful
Movie review
January 18, 2018
The Greatest Showman– a movie about the life of P. T. Barnum and how his circus came to be the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus– is in theaters now.
In May of 2017 the circus was shut down and they performed their last show. On December 8, 2017 this movie was released and critics either loved it or hated it. Some were amazed and thought the movie kept you hooked through the whole movie. Others were critical because some of the scenes were deemed “unrealistic” by those critics.
The movie takes place in the 1850’s and 60’s in New York City, starting off with Barnum’s childhood and how he met his wife. Throughout the movie, they show where he gets the idea for the circus, where it started, the criticism he faces, and how he met each person involved in the circus.
Personally, I believe the movie is beautifully done and the music truly captures your attention, and the characters pull at your heart strings. I laughed and fell in love with the characters and each person’s story.
This is a movie that anyone can relate to, whether it’s because you feel like an outcast, you’ve faced hardships, or that the one thing you dream about having just feels impossible to reach– this movie is for you. If you have the chance to see this movie in theaters, I would highly recommend going to see it because it’s absolutely beautiful on the big screen.
