Fans go berserk over tickets for Taylor Swifts’ Era Tour

On November 15th at 10 am, Taylor Swift’s Era Tour tickets went on presale. In order to be a part of this, you had to be chosen for the code to get in. I was fortunate enough to get the code, but many did not. Even though it was a limited amount of people trying to purchase, the process was still grueling.

The Ticketmaster website crashed due to heavy demand after being open for only 5 minutes. “I waited for 5 hours before moving to a different device, where I got in after an hour. The site told me I couldn’t buy the tickets on my device after I selected the seats I wanted. I had to clear my entire search history and cookies to get it to work, and I finally got to get my tickets. When it said I couldn’t get them, I almost cried, I was so scared,” said Amelia, a hardcore Swiftie since day one.

For me, I got my tickets to the Houston show after 4 stressful hours. “It sucked. I kept getting kicked out of the queue. It took over 6 hours before I got in, and then I got kicked out. After waiting 4 more hours I got in again, but I still couldn’t get tickets! I’m so mad about the whole experience,” said Bella Enriquez, 9.

Many fans who didn’t get presale tickets were still hopeful they could get tickets at the general sale on November 18th, but the day before the sale, TicketMaster announced that they would be canceling it due to an insufficient ticket inventory.

“I keep going on FaceBook and everyone all over my feed is going feral. Everyone’s so mad, I’m glad we got them when we did,” said a parent, a Swiftie and Facebook user.

Taylor herself was just as mad as her fans were about the whole ordeal, posting on her Instagram, “It’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse…It’s truly amazing 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them.” Although there might not be a chance to go this tour, Taylor says she hopes to provide more opportunities for people to see her.
