Tide pod challenge: Eating toxic soap is a trend?

*Tide pods should not be consumed, they are extremely toxic and could easily kill you. Please do not take part in the Tide pod challenge.*

Recently, the odd desire to eat Tide pods because they look so much like many different fruit-flavored snacks has resurfaced and become increasingly more popular.

The “Tide pod challenge” involves people eating the laundry soap and reacting to it for videos. Some are doing it to try the taste and for some reason decided to try them as soon as the challenge arose.

“When I found out that the tide pod challenge was real and not a just a joke, a little part of me was genuinely concerned for humanity,” Senior Clay Theriot said.

Tide’s parent company, Procter & Gamble, said in a statement that it is “deeply concerned about conversations related to intentional and improper use of liquid laundry pacs.”

Eating a Tide pod can lead to serious injuries or even death. Ingesting the detergent can cause diarrhea, vomiting, and it’s also possible for the detergent to creep into your lungs and burn your respiratory tract, making it very difficult to breathe. Many have fallen ill due to this insane challenge, and at least half-dozen deaths have been linked to consuming the colorful pods.
