Bringing back the ’90s
April 14, 2023
New trends appear constantly, but some of the biggest trends aren’t new, they are reused. Bringing back fashion styles, music, and items from certain eras is something that is very common. One of the most apparent of these eras is the recurrence of 90s trends. From Doc Martens to baggy pants this 1990 renaissance has spread worldwide.
Shoes
The 90s have had a bigger impact on current shoe styles than many may think. One of the most popular styles that have been brought into the spotlight is Doc Martens. Doc Martens were made in the late ’40s in Germany but became popular in the states in the 1990s during the grunge fashion movement. These leather combat-style boots were a staple to many people’s fashion choices in the ’90s and the same can be said about today. If you go out and look you will see a surprising amount of these shoes whether it is a traditional boot or a loafer.
Clothes
Another fashion piece that the 90s has influenced is clothes. Baggy pants, plaid jackets, and slip dresses are just a few of the pieces that are coming back today. Oversized cargos and jeans can be seen anywhere you go. The oversized pants are usually styled with tighter, smaller tops mixing influences from the 90s and current-day fashion. Plaid made its huge debut in the movie Clueless and the print stuck in fashion ever since inspiring high-end designers and stylists today
Music
Not only fashion has carried over generations; music has too. Styles like hip-hop and grunge music skyrocketed in the 90s with artists such as Tupac, Nasl, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam. Today we can hear the influence of these artists in modern rap and alternative music. Girl groups have started to fade away but a few years ago they were at the top of the charts and they were also influenced by huge 90s groups like the spice girls and TLC.
