With the new school year kicking off, it’s time to sit in the back of the class with headphones in to block out your surroundings. However the new year always means new music, and this year is no exception to the trend.

The month of August brought great music from artists such as Travis Scott, YG, Mac Miller, Iggy Azalea, Ariana Grande, Eminem, and more.

Travis Scott’s new album Astro World debuted at #1 spot on the Apple Music billboards for over 2 weeks straight, however despite the popular opinion some people still don’t enjoy his music. When asked senior Mauricio Cruz said he “had not listened to it”. XXL freshman Trippie Redd also recently dropped an album on Aug 10th titled life’s a trip, featuring Young Thug, Travis Scott, and more. Along with Trippie redd Nicki Minaj also dropped an album titled Queen on august 10th. This album has features from Lil Wayne, Eminem, Swae Lee, and more with the hit song Barbie Dreams. With Nicki in mind artist Tekashi69 recently dropped a single FEFE featuring Nicki.It is currently sitting at the number 2 spot on the apple music top charts.

On August 17th multi platinum artist Young Thug dropped an album under the title “Slime Language.” This album features Gunna, Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert, Tracy T and more. The album consists of the hit song Chanel (go get it) featuring Gunna and LilBaby which is currently sitting at the number 27 spot on the Apple Music top charts.

Last but not least on August 3 of 2018 Mac Miller dropped his last album under the name of “Swimming” peaking at the number 2 spot on the Apple music top charts. Over a month later artist Mac Miller died of an overdose September 7th.

At the end of the day there will always be new music and new sounds. Influential artists like Lil Peep, Mac Miller, Tom Petty and more will live on forever through their influential sounds and songs.
