Kareem Hunt signs with the Cleveland Browns
February 23, 2019
Last week the Cleveland Browns signed running back Kareem Hunt. The 2017 pro bowler was originally drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs where he spent a year and a half as the starting running back under head coach Andy Reid. The Cleveland Browns are receiving an amazing asset that can fit their process that started last season. Kareem Hunt will be joining starting quarterback Baker Mayfield as they will pair up to lead the offense to compete for an AFC North division title.
Kareem Hunt was released from the Kansas City Chiefs immediately after TMZ released a video about an incident involving a physical altercation with a women during the offseason prior to the 2018 NFL season. This would put Kareem Hunt on the NFL’s commissioner’s exempt list which did not allow Kareem Hunt to play the remainder of the season until the NFL completed a complete investigation. Although Kareem Hunt was not pressed with any charges, the event would shock the world along with the NFL.
In years past the NFL has had trouble with many players involved in physical altercations with women. Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice lost it all after a video was taken of him beating his wife in a hotel elevator. The NFL has taken plenty of blame for all incidents as similar situations keep occuring. The NFL has placed a system as they take rookies on a two week conference explaining actions and other issues that trouble the NFL.
It will be interesting to see what the NFL does next to do their best preventing situations like this from happening in the National Football League.
