The Hays Rebel varsity baseball team finished the first round of district play with five wins and three losses with an overall record of 19-4. The Rebel Varsity baseball team is currently sitting in third place in the race for the district 25-6a crown.

As of lately district 25-6a has become the Wild West as the number one team in the state of Lake Travis high school recently lost their undefeated season with a surprising loss to Akins HS. Along with the fall of the number one team in 6A baseball in the state of Texas Westlake HS was also upset as they loss to Austin High 4-2. This has opened opportunity for the Rebel baseball program to overtake each team and still have a chance for a district championship.

In order for the Rebels to win district they need to have luck on their side. The two teams in front of the Rebels are Lake Travis and Westlake high schools. The Lake Travis Cavaliers would need to lose to the Rebels in their next match up while also falling to one other team. The Westlake Chaparrals would also need to lose to the Rebels as well as falling to one other team. The Rebels would also need to win out in the final round in district. Not to mention that there is also three other teams fighting for the last playoff spot in the district.

Right now this is anyone’s race and the fight for the district crown is heating up.
