In season one of Netflix’s ’13 reasons why’ there is a three minute long and very graphic scene of main characther Hannah Baker committing suicide, which is very hard to not feel uncomfortable while watching. As well as people being upset of the fact that Netflix glamorized the act and could possibly trigger anyone who is sensitive to the subject. After two years of the scene being up almost everywhere, Netflix tweeted stating ” we’ve decided with the creator Brian Yorkey and the producers of ’13 reasons why’ to edit the scene which Hannah takes her own life from season one” so now the scene is officially edited and less graphic.

Madalyn Kasper, 10, “I think its kind of dumb for them to edit the scene out considering the fact that millions of people have already seen it, and if you look up ‘Hannah baker committing suicide’ on YouTube you can find a lot of videos of that specific part, but I understand their intentions and why they took it down.”

But others feel differently.

Kerri Curcoe, counselor, “I would have to agree with taking out the scene. It is important that the act of suicide not be portrayed explicitly on film or sensationalized in any way. Anyone considering suicide could be triggered or influenced through misunderstanding what the underlying message of the show was intended to be. It is very important when discussing suicide to focus on protective and preventive factors, and to be clear that help is available.”
