The first thing social media users saw the morning of Sunday, December 8 were posts at the top of Instagram and Twitter sharing the disturbing news of Juice Wrld’s sudden death. Jarad Anthony Higgins, also known as Juice Wrld, turned 21 last week.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Higgins’ girlfriend shared that he “takes Percocet and has a drug problem.”

Higgins reportedly had a seizure while he and his crew walked through Chicago’s Midway airport.

Many people are devastated about the news, including close friends of the rapper. One of his best friends, fellow rapper Ski Mask the Slump God, shares on Instagram “I Love You So Much, You Didn’t Deserve This, I Cant Explain How Much It Hurts Me To Lose You, ___ This Life Bruh, Rest In Peace You Know Ill Carry Your Energy Forever!!!!! I Cant Lose Any More Brothers.” (sic)

While the rap community mourns the loss, so do fans.

Locally, Kaden Branson, 12, who claims to be a super-fan of Juice Wrld, made this sentimental post on Instagram: “December 8th, 2019, you never deserved this. thank you for everything you’ve said that touched me, I will hold on to those words forever. thank you for helping me through so many tough times, and will continue to. but most of all, thank you for keeping it real.
