Things to occupy the Quaran-Teens

Feeling lonely? For those extroverted people out there, there’s several apps besides apple facetime that can allow you to video chat with your peers from the comfort of your own bed. “Talking with my friends and being able to see their faces has honestly helped me feel less separated from them. It’s reminded me that we’re all in this together.” said Reagan Flores, 11.

As we all know, quarantine has proven to be overall, long, agonizing, and most of all boring. Generally, teens have spent their lockdown days either on their phones or asleep in efforts to fend off their boredom. Instead of going to the kitchen to snack for the millionth time today, here are a few things you can do instead.

Being constantly couped up in the house might make you feel a bit restless. When you can do all of your homework from the bed you’re probably more likely to never wanna leave it but getting some fresh air can do some good. Working out is good to relieve stress and get you out of the house. Going for a walk or a run might be the motivation you need to get out of bed. On top of that, while you’re out you can do some sidewalk drawings for other people passing.

If you’re in need of some social activities that won’t break your social distancing you can also do a group facetime. Apps like House Party, Skype, and Zoom can keep you connected. They also allow multiple people to Facetime at once so that your whole friend group can chat at the same time. Another activity that you can do and be a little social is six feet apart photoshoot.

In the end, there are many activities you can do while in quarantine. Keeping yourself busy is the best thing to do during this epidemic. There is nothing wrong with a lazy day but getting up and going is better for your health.

Indulge in a new book. Find a separate reality, away from this whole corona mess within the pages of a novel. Georgia Younts, 11, explained to me that reading is one of the ways she’s found to pass time while being stuck in her home. “I’ve found reading makes me feel productive and less alone, I’ve found so many good reads I wouldn’t have had the time for without the stay at home order.”
Take a glance outside. For a majority of people, quarantine has really thrown the ordinary sleeping schedule right out the window. So why not embrace the new pattern? Go outside and watch the birds wake up as the sun rises, or listen to music on your porch as the sun disappears behind the horizon in the evenings. Either way, being outside for even short periods of time has proven to be somewhat therapeutic.
Facetime your friends. Feeling lonely? For those extroverted people out there, there are several apps besides Apple Facetime that can allow you to video chat with your peers from the comfort of your own bed. “Talking with my friends and being able to see their faces has honestly helped me feel less separated from them. Sidewalk Chalk. Not just for toddlers, find your creative soul and spread positivity for anyone who stops by to see. You never know who could need the encouragement, maybe you do, without even knowing it.
^ft Apart Photoshoots. They’re safe and could give you the motivation to get up and get dressed, especially helpful for those of us who have been living in our pajamas.
