Being a Hawk and going to lunch can be pretty hectic. There’s people coming from outside going to ‘A’ building for class and they will most likely bump into you if you’re heading to lunch so you should stay aware. Two lunches divide the approximately 2,200 students that go to A and B each, and even I know as a student at Hays that going to lunch can be a bit hectic and aggravating because of how crowded it feels at times. Jazmine and I interviewed 5 people to see their thoughts on the lunch they attend.
What can Hays do to reduce the lines at lunch?
Mackenzie Sada-Nieto, 10, said “Opening up side doors or having a C lunch.”
Elias Lucio, 10, said, “I don’t know seems to cause less people to get food.”
Santiago Navea-Ochoa, 9, said, “Getting more food options.”
Brandon Rodriguez, 11, said, “More lines should be added.”
Audrey Bernal, 12, said, “If more people bring their own lunch.”
I agree that something about the lines can be done even if it’s building a bigger cafeteria or making more lines.
Personal view on fixing lunch’s?
Sada-Nieto said, “Yes, I think we should because a lot of people get crowded by the taco and traditional food line.”
Lucio said, “I don’t see a problem with it, just skip the line.”
Navea-Ochoa, said, “It really doesn’t really matter to me.”
Rodriguez, said, “I don’t really eat lunch, but I like the snacks, such as the cookies, ice cream sandwiches, Doritos, pretty much everything.”
Bernal said, “I don’t really care because I brings my own lunch.”
Is seating as bad as getting in line?
Brandon answered “Yeah they hog the chairs, so sometimes I have to sit in the hallways and I don’t want to sit in the hallways.” Santiago said “I don’t really get in the line.” Mackenzie said “Yes, it’s too many kids and now we have to go outside and sit and it’s too hot for that.” Elias answered ” Not really.”
Does the hassle make you not wanna get lunch?
Bernal said, “Yeah because when you’re at the end of the line you usually get it by the end of lunch, it’s like what’s the reason to get lunch.”
Rodriguez said, “Make more lines.”
Sada-Nieto said, “Yes, the lines are so long I lose my hunger.”
What are some pet peeves about these lines and how big lunch is?
Bernal said, “People being too loud at lunch or people in the middle of the row with their seat back.”
Sada -Nieto said, “People are loud.”
Rodriguez said, “Sometimes when I’m sitting in line people will bump into me, step on my shoe, and they try to cut in stuff and I’m just trying get some food.”
Overall view on lunch?
Bernal said, “I don’t like A lunch it’s too early, I think I’m good with B lunch.”
Lucio said, “A lunch is cool but B lunch is trash.”
Rodriguez said, “Yeah it’s alright, I just wish we had more time to eat because sometimes you stand in line too long and you only get 10 minutes to eat.”
Sada-Nieto said, “I believe we have too many kids at the school so we should have another lunch.”
Assistant Principal, Joe Mitchell
“I think we need three lunches. Two is not enough for the number of students we have. The lunches are way too packed and many times we run out of seats.”
