Who: Chelsea Cavazos, Cheer Head Social Officer
Why did you decide to do cheer?
“I honestly don’t know why I did. It was always something that I liked, one of my interests. I also did it in middle school, so I decided to pursue in high school.”
What do you do for Head Social Officer?
“I am in charge of the social media, and I plan team functions as well as opposing team gifts, cheerleader of the week, recognizing girls on the team, organizing banquet, and organizing fundraisers.”
What challenges do you face with this position?
“A challenge would definitely be making the team happy, and putting a foot forward. As a leader you are a spokesperson for the team, and you do get bad feedback from the team. At the end of the day its what’s best for the team as a whole, and learning to separate my friends with leadership roles so there is no favoritism, and making sure I look at everyone with equal status.”
Are there opportunities to introduce new traditions or events, and what is one of them?
“This year we started senior boxes so we can receive letters. We’ve always received senior letters, but this year we got boxes so we could decorate them to our liking, such as painting, drawing, cutting out, etc. It’s super cute, and adds something a little different to just receiving pieces of paper, and makes it more personal.”
