Is Fashion DYING?

An overview on today’s fashion trends.
Is Fashion DYING?

To what were once FASHION TRENDS of flared pants, neon windbreakers, and 2-piece track suits, we’ve now revolutionized to what we consider ‘minimalistic trends’: neutral color palettes, wider jeans, and keeping up to latest shoe-trend — no matter the price. Whatever has happened to originality?

You might be thinking: “But, isn’t the whole point of fashion trends to NOT be original?”

YES. Mainstreamly, which is why fashion has been ruined for a while now, because nobody really thinks for themselves, fashion wise… BUT, even then, OLDER fashion trends were a lot more creative then than they are for us now, they took risks that nobody now wants to take.

Take the LATE 90’s – EARLY 2000’s as an example: Due to its extensive statement made in fashion, LOTS of trends from that year are slowly creeping back now into ours, surprisingly enough: to animal prints, crop tops, over-sized shirts and jeans, to making everything low-rise again.

EXCEPT for the fact that half of this stuff is still created and designed to be modernized, so it doesn’t and will never truly feel authentic to the original year of these fashion trends. Like the comeback of ‘low-rise’ jeans, except they aren’t as ‘low’ like it says in the name, and are actually made to be ‘mid-rise’

So, why are we still dressing boring? The media has always been suggesting for us be dressing a certain way, ‘just because’. (consumerism) But why spend our years following trends that will die out within a couple of months to a year?

This isn’t made to say that dressing in certain styles is WRONG, it’s just simply that for me, some of the uprising trends have watered down what fashion truly means to us as the human race.

To put it simply, with what I want to say; Go and be creative! Don’t resent yourself to what society wants you to be; being different is fun!
