Hays Anime Club is preparing to go the Anime Convention at the San Antonio convention center in May.
As the date draws closer, club members raised funds and their anticipation grew. After selling snacks and baked goods after school, the group’s hard work has paid off to be able to go to the River Walk Anime Convention in San Antonio.
“Encouraging us to use our imagination and it also helps the club socialize as a whole. It helps bringing us together and helps adapt to each different group of personalities,” Amber Lunan, club sponsor, said.
From voice actors like Kaiji Tang, known for popular animes and video games, to Brandon Rodgers, who brings a sense of laughter for the fans. For some members of the club, it’s their first opportunity to enjoy and experience panels, shops, and autographs stands.
For Anime club the trip feels like a well-earned celebration after months of effort and planning.
“I’ve played these games before going to an anime convention is definitely worth it, its going to be a blast,” said Azeneth Juarez Gutierrez, club vice president.
More than anything it’s a chance for the club to enjoy something they worked hard for as a group and create memories that will stick with them for a lifetime.
“The current moment in time is a big step for anime club because we have been raising money to go this convention that everybody is excited for,” Gutierrez said.
